How to connect to a display
Connect VerseCAST to a display
the easy way - with Google Cast which is build in to any Android TV or an inexpensive Google Chromecast with Google TV 4K HDMI dongle for around $50 - we recommend this solution for permanent installation at church
the available way - with anything that can display a Web Page
* Make sure your Phone is connected to the same WiFi as your display.
Note: VerseCAST renders each output directly on the display, while the phone acts as a coordinator, telling the displays what to render. This means that even if the WiFi drops, or the phone is disconnected or receives a call, each display still renders its intended content.
Google Cast
The easy way
Tap the cast icon in the upper right corner
List of Google Cast devices will be displayed
Select device you want to connect to
Google Cast is build in to any Android TV - including smart TV’s of Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp, Hisense, TCL and many others. If you don’t have a Google Cast capable device - you can purchase a Google Chromecast 4K dongle for arround 50$. VerseCAST themes are developed to be running smoothly up to 4K on this device.
Web browser
The more available way
VerseCAST publishes the main presentation as a Web Page hosted on your device meaning any device that runs a Web Browser can be used as a display.
Go to Menu / Displays
You can see the URL in the Main Presentation column
Enter the URL to the address bar of a Web Browser on your Display/TV/Projector
Samsung, LG and Vizio TV’s have a web browser build in. Many manufacturers include a web browser for their WiFi enabled projectors - including Epson, BenQ, ViewSonic, Anker, LG, Optoma, Sony and XGIMI
Multiple displays
Multiple display outputs are ready to use - no setup needed. Just open a web page on your preferred device. You’ll find the URLs under Menu > Displays.
Stage display/Confidence Monitor – for your speaker and musicians, shown on a tablet on stage or a Smart TV on the back wall
Stream Lower-Third Subtitles – with or without chroma key, ready for vMix, OBS, and more
Secondary Displays – for the Lobby or Café area
Advanced
Follow these steps for a more advanced setup at your church or permanent location.
How to disable Screensaver on Android TV and Chromecast
Only necessary if you use Google Cast to connect to your display.
All Android TV’s have a screensaver feature enabled by default. This leads to a screensaver screen disturbing VerseCAST presentation after a longer period of inactivity. If you want to disable the screensaver - follow these steps (one time only)
On your Android TV or Chromecast
Go to Settings > System > About
Tap multiple times on ‘Android TV OS Build’ - until you see a ‘You are now a developer’ message
Go to Settings > System > Developer options and set ‘Stay awake’ to ON (blue)
This step is only necessary if you use URL and a web browser to connect to your display and you want to simplify the connection and bookmark the display page. Please follow this tutorial on how to set a fixed IP address.
