HARDWARE you need

Projection screen

Use whatever suits your needs: TV, Projector or a PC monitor. You will need a free HDMI port to connect Google Chromecast.

There is no need for any additional hardware if your projection screen is an Android TV or Chromecast capable.

Google Chromecast

If your display is not a Chromecast capable device, we recommend using ‘Google Chromecast 4 Google TV with Remote’ dongle. It is available worldwide and fairly cheap. VerseCAST is tested on this device and will be running smoothly up to 4K resolution.

Phone or tablet

Your phone or tablet will be running VerseCAST. The app is available on iOS and Android and works even on older devices.

You will need the YouVersion Bible App to add Bible verses to the presentation.

WiFi and internet

Make sure that both the Google Chromecast and the device running VerseCAST are connected to the same WiFi with a solid signal.

You must be able to access internet on the WiFi you connect to. A large bandwidth is not necessary, but a bad connection might cause stuttering or slow response.

set it up

Take a minute and follow these steps carefully. This will help you avoid issues in the future.

  • Connect Google Chromecast to a free HDMI port on your Display device and power it up using a properly spec'd power brick. A USB port on the TV/Projector might not be strong enough, original power brick is 5V, 1.5A USB-C.

  • Switch to proper HDMI input and follow the on screen instructions to set up Google Chromecast.

  • On your Google Chromecast:

    • Go to Settings > System > About

    • Tap multiple times on ‘Android TV OS Build’ until you see ‘You are now a developer’

    • Go to Settings > System > Developer options and set ‘Stay awake’ to ON (blue)

  • Make sure that both Google Chromecast and the device running VerseCAST connect to the same WiFi.

  • Install VerseCAST and follow on screen instructions carefully. Make sure that YouVersion Bible is installed or you won’t be able to add Bible verses. The link to YouVersion Bible app will pop up in VerseCAST app introduction.
